Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 6, 2026

At CheckHabit, protecting your privacy is one of our highest priorities. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we safeguard your data when you use our website, web app, and mobile application (collectively, the "Service").

CheckHabit is designed to help you build habits, record reflections, attach notes to habits, and understand long-term patterns through insights. Because the information you store may be personal, we treat your data with care and respect.

By using CheckHabit, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. CheckHabit is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you become aware that someone under 18 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at contact@checkhabit.com and we will delete it promptly.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you voluntarily provide when you:

  • Create an account
  • Upgrade to a paid plan
  • Contact us for support
  • Communicate with us through email or forms

This information may include:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Account-related details
  • Payment information (processed securely by third-party payment providers)

When using CheckHabit, you may also create and store personal data such as habits, notes attached to habits, and daily reflections. This information is stored so the Service can display your progress and generate insights.

We do not store your full payment card details on our servers.

1b. Mobile App & Device Data

When you use the CheckHabit mobile application, we may automatically collect certain technical information to ensure the app functions properly and to improve your experience. This may include:

  • Device type and model
  • Operating system name and version
  • App version
  • Push notification token (only when you grant notification permission)
  • Crash reports and diagnostic data (used to identify and fix bugs)
  • App session data (e.g., feature usage patterns, session duration)
  • IP address (logged at the time of sign-in or account creation)

Push Notifications

If you grant CheckHabit permission to send push notifications, we collect a device push token to deliver reminders and alerts you configure. You can revoke this permission at any time through your device's system settings (Settings → Notifications → CheckHabit). Revoking notification access will not affect your ability to use the core features of CheckHabit.

Local Data Storage

The CheckHabit mobile app may store certain data locally on your device (such as cached habits and preferences) to enable offline access and faster load times. This locally stored data is synced to our servers when your device is connected to the internet. Uninstalling the app will remove locally stored data from your device, but your account data will remain on our servers until you delete your account.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and operate the CheckHabit service
  • Display your habits, reflections, notes, and insights
  • Manage your account and subscription
  • Process payments securely
  • Send push notifications and reminders you have configured
  • Respond to support requests
  • Diagnose crashes and fix bugs in the mobile app
  • Serve contextually relevant advertisements through Google AdMob
  • Improve the reliability, performance, and usefulness of the product

AI-Generated Insights: We utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyze your habit data. When sending your habits for AI processing, we do not share any identifying personal information; your data is kept strictly anonymous. This allows us to securely generate personalized "Daily/Weekly/Monthly" Insights to help you understand your patterns, and we do not use your personal data to train public AI models.

Your personal habit data, notes, and reflections are used only to power the features of the Service and to generate insights that you choose to view. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services & SDKs

To operate the Service, we work with trusted third-party providers. These providers may process certain data on our behalf in accordance with their own privacy policies. Categories of third-party services we use include:

  • Authentication providers — to securely manage account sign-in
  • Payment processors — to handle subscription billing (we do not store your card details)
  • Push notification services — to deliver reminders to your device
  • Analytics providers — to understand aggregate usage and improve the app
  • Crash reporting tools — to detect and fix technical issues
  • Advertising networks (Google AdMob) — to serve ads in the free version of the mobile app

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you interact with through CheckHabit.

3b. Advertising & Google AdMob

The free version of the CheckHabit mobile app displays advertisements served by Google AdMob, a mobile advertising platform operated by Google LLC. To serve relevant ads, AdMob may collect and use certain information from your device, which may include:

  • Advertising ID (Google Ad ID on Android)
  • Device type, operating system, and language
  • General location (derived from IP address)
  • App interaction data (ad impressions and clicks)

This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. CheckHabit does not have access to the ad targeting data collected by Google.

Ad Personalization & Opt-Out

By default, Google AdMob may serve personalized ads based on your interests. You can control ad personalization at any time:

  • On Android: go to Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization.
  • Via Google's ad settings: adssettings.google.com

Users who upgrade to a Pro plan will no longer see advertisements in the app.

4. Data Protection & Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, misuse, loss, or disclosure.

This includes:

  • Secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit
  • Secure infrastructure with access controls
  • Careful handling of sensitive information
  • Regular review of our security practices

While no system can guarantee absolute security, we continuously work to improve the safety and protection of user data. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

5. Your Rights & Choices

Regardless of where you are located, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information associated with your account
  • Update or correct your account information
  • Delete your account and associated data (processed within 30 days of your request)
  • Withdraw consent for specific data processing activities (such as opting out of personalized ads) through your device settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect the legality of processing that occurred before withdrawal.
